Under the bas-relief, there is a large inscription dating back to 520 BC.The inscription ,which is one of the world’s most famous and reliable historical documents, is a narration of historical events during the reign of Darius I as well as the

names of Iran’s neighboring countries and geographical regions of the time in three ancient languages.The rectangular cuneiform inscription is 21 meters long and 8 meters wide.This was the first cuneiform inscription to be translated to modern languages.
